Etsy Rebrand

The first time I rebranded my Etsy, I wanted it to look fun and hand-drawn, but fell short with the outcome looking more childish than hand-crafted. This time, I executed the texturized style I was attempting by adding concise elements and a solid, bright, and cheerful color palette. Despite the rebrand, I mixed some of my older elements with other freshly created ones. Lastly, I made it a priority to keep everything consistent and playful to retain the original heart of my brand.

Original

For the original logo, I wanted to create an embodiment of the name SolGato, which in English is Sun Cat. So I made my brand a mascot that was a cat with a sun marking!

First Revision

When revising my logo, I wanted to go with a more word-based logo. While doing this, I wanted to keep a fun, playful vibe, which led me to choose a rounded font. Additionally, I added elements of each word to the O’s. While I technically accomplished my goal, the logo felt incomplete, and I wasn’t quite satisfied with the result.

Final Revision

I revisited the logo for the third time with a fresh approach. I refreshed the logo with handmade effects for a more organic feel, refining the bottom lettering using improved design hierarchy. I kept the orange outline and O’s accents, adding a rough, colored-pencil texture to emphasize the handcrafted look.

How I got there:

I began by gathering inspiration photos to create a strong moodboard as my foundation. From there, I was drawn to a handcrafted colored pencil aesthetic, highlighted by soft colors and subtle gradients. To ensure the logo stood out against this gentle backdrop, I paired it with a sharper, italicized font for contrast and visual impact.
